Choosing a Contractor
A  good sprinkler system is designed to provide just the right amount of water to make your
particular landscape and turf areas thrive, without wasting water from excessive runoff,
throwing water on sidewalks, fences or driveways.  It should give you years of trouble free
service, and save you money over hand watering.

In 1973, the Texas legislature passed the irrigator licensing law as part of a water
conservation act.  Anyone designing, consulting, selling, or installing a sprinkler system is
required by law to be licensed through the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

Municipal permitting requires design blueprints to be certified by a licensed irrigator.

Verify that your contractor is a licensed irrigator by visiting the
T.C.E.Q website.

Check the
County Clerks website for the current address of your contractor.

Request a certificate of insurance coverage.

Ask the contractor for references on work they have performed in your area.

If the work is substantial, it is normal for a contractor to request a portion (usually about 1/3)
of the overall agreed price before work begins.  This will usually cover permitting fees, and
most of the parts.  This is usually requested when the parts arrive at your home.  Never pay
the full amount until the work is completed to your satisfaction, the irrigator has
demonstrated the working system to you, and given you a set of "as built" plans.  Many
times, as a system is being installed, it will need to be slightly altered due to underground
utilities, tree roots, and other unforeseen obstacles.  The "as built" plans will save you time
money should you need any work done on your system in the future.

Design & Installation

Design begins with accessing the needs of the landscape.  Different sprays, patterns, and
elements are chosen depending on whether you are watering turf, shrubs, trees, or bedding
planters.  A  technique referred to as "hydrozoning" is used to provide certain areas with more
or less water.  No two sprinkler systems will have the same design.  At
Accord On-Site, we
use the newest components available to guarantee a design that will provide the optimum
amount of water, while saving you money with it's efficiency.
Irrigation Services
Rotors
Generally used for larger areas;
saves money on piping and
trenching.
Sprays
Placed "Head to Head", these
sprays are the most extensively
used method of applying water to
areas that require precise
watering.
Repair & Upgrade

A large amount of our irrigation work involves repairing or upgrading existing systems.
Don't give up on your irrigation system simply because of a leak or faulty valve.  It was
designed and installed to save you money by watering your landscape in an efficient
manner. In most cases, we can find the problem and quickly make a repair.

Wayward vehicles and large mowers can break sprinkler components.  A landscaper may
have damaged a pipe when planting a new tree.  Expanding and contracting soils that we
see along the gulf coast can cause joints to leak.  These can be taken care of inexpensively.

No doubt, an irrigation system will increase your water usage, but if it seems that your
usage is too high, give us a call.  A number of reasons can cause excessive water usage; a
well meaning grounds keeper may have inadvertently programmed an overlapping run
time, a power surge may have changed the control program, parts may have been replaced
in the system that were the incorrect size, or flow rate.  Call us now to check your system,
your water savings will be realized immediately.

Great advances have been made in recent years with drip irrigation.  It has come a long way
from the "black leaky hose".  New, high tech, flexible pipe, commonly referred to as Tech
Line, with special emitters built in, have replaced the troublesome and unpredictable leaky
hose of past days.  We have used this product extensively over the last few years with great
results.  By placing the water close to the root zone, and not having evaporation through the
air as is experienced with conventional sprays, gallons of water used can be reduced
dramatically.  It is not right for every application, but let us look at your system to see if this
technology can be retrofitted into your system.  We can also share some secrets that we
have learned over the years to conserve water and save you money on watering needs.
High Performance Rotors
Used almost exclusively for golf
course and sports field
applications.  Operating pressure
normally requires a pressure
boosting pump.
Tech Line
Top:  Complex labyrinth and
membrane encased within Tech
Line ensure equal watering and
prevent emitters from becoming
clogged.

Bottom:  1/2 inch Tech Line may
be laid on top of mulch, or buried,
with no adverse effect on
performance.
